We stayed in several VRBO rentals throughout Scotland and Ireland on this trip, and Connell's House was by far our favourite!!! Very warm and welcoming check in, old charming thatched cottage that has been completely renovated and updated, fabulous restaurant in an old church just a short walk away - the perfect holiday home!

Connell’s Barn is a lovely place to stay. We stayed 4 nights, it was perfect for our day trips to Newgrange & Knowth, the Wicklow Mountains, Trim Castle, Loughcrew Cairns, Howth, and Dublin city. The Barn was so clean and comfortable. Karla had a very organised and helpful box file in the Barn with local attractions and maps. The Tribe Restaurant was a superb recommendation from Karla, we had excellent food and a pleasant conversation with one of the owners of this old converted church!

We had a super nice time and were very impressed by the great Connell's Barn. It is furnished with a lot of attention to detail and you immediately feel super comfortable. There were even a few sweets waiting for us to greet us. Karla even came by and explained a lot of things to us and gave tips for the surroundings. The property is located in the centre of Duleek but is in a quiet spot, with direct parking. Some shops can be easily reached on foot. Great places, like a super beautiful beach, can be reached within a few minutes by car. We were very sad to go home and it was certainly not our last visit to her. Thank you for a great week in a cozy place.

If you are looking for the perfect Airbnb experience this is it. The barn is beautiful and much nicer than the pictures. It is beautifully laid out and the extra touches were very welcome, such as locally made soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. As well as tea, coffee, biscuits and nibbles. I particularly loved the book charting the renovation of the house & barn. What vision Karla had to transform it to its current state. 5 stars all the way. Loved it.

To Explore

Dublin City

Dublin City is full of interesting sights and characters and makes a great day trip. The city centre has been transformed in the last 20 years. Neighbourhoods that were once run down have become gentrified with contemporary buildings and trendy shops and cafes. There are some spectacular period buildings alongside some cutting edge modern architecture. The city centre is small and easy to explore on foot, although you can hop on a tram to the Docklands or the Phoenix Park to explore further afield.

Tribe is famed for their delicious sourdough pizza, cocktails and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is always evolving and includes their own home grown vegetables, Irish beef and seafood, as well as ingredients from many of the local food producers in the Boyne Valley. Situated in a beautifully restored church, it’s a unique place to start your holiday!
